Greetings to all Youth Fighters and their parents!

On Sunday, Debatable Lands Youth Combat practice will be held at the Washington Blvd. site from 2:00 pm through 5:00 pm.

DUE TO THE HEAT, PLEASE BRING PLENTY OF WATER! I will be bringing even more water than usual and extra FREEZER POPS this week.  As usual we will try to stay in the shade, and we will take lots of breaks so we can keep our youth fighters safe.

As always, I will have loaner gear available for any youth who would like to try youth combat. Remember to bring WATER BOTTLES, and to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes.

The AEthelmearc Youth/Adult team tournament at Pennsic will be held on Tuesday, August 9, beginning at noon on the Southeast Battlefield. Youth fighters, now is the time to line up your adult team mates for this tourney! Please note that the Woods Battle is occurring that morning at 10 am, so you may want to find adult fighters who either aren't planning to fight in the woods or who possess a lot of stamina. :-)

Other Youth activities of note at Pennsic include:

- Ealdormere Youth Bear Pit Tourney on Mon, August 8 at 3pm on the youth field
- East / Middle Youth Tourney on Weds., August 10 at 2pm on the youth field
- Water Battle (not youth combat, but water guns) on Weds., August 10 at 4pm at the fort
- Youth Castle Battle, on Fri. August 12 at 3pm at the fort (start at youth field)

More information on Youth Combat at Pennsic is available here:
http://www.pennsicwar.org/penn40/GENERAL/youthcombat.html

THERE WILL BE NO BMDL PRACTICES IN AUGUST due to Pennsic and the post-Pennsic recovery and laundry weekend.

HOWEVER, on Sat. August 27at Baronial Investiture the BARONIAL YOUTH CHAMPION TOURNEY will be fought. See here for more details on the event:  http://debatablelands.org/events.html

And finally, because it has been so very hot, and my own son has been a victim of Heat Exhaustion (and almost Heat Stroke) this week, please be aware of the warning signs of heat illness -  nausea, vomiting, dizziness, fatigue, weakness, headaches, muscle cramps, and/or dizziness. Hydration is key, and replacement of electrolytes with drinks like Gatorade can also help. Let's all stay safe, this week and at Pennsic!

See you Sunday!

Arianna
