[SCA-BMDL] BMDL Youth Fighter Practice this Sunday

Greetings to all Youth Fighters and their parents!

On Sunday, Debatable Lands Youth Combat practice will be held at the Washington Blvd. site from 2:00 pm through 5:00 pm.

As usual, I will have loaner gear available for any youth who would like to try youth combat. Remember to bring water bottles, and to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes.

The AEthelmearc Youth/Adult team tournament at Pennsic will be held on Tuesday, August 9, beginning at noon on the Southeast Battlefield. Youth fighters, now is the time to line up your adult team mates for this tourney! Please note that the Woods Battle is occurring that morning at 10 am, so you may want to find adult fighters who either aren't planning to fight in the woods or who possess a lot of stamina. :-)

***Division 1 Fighters*** - There is a new standard for weapons that was just approved. You can still make your weapons from golf tubes, BUT you can now also make them of 1/2" PVC pipe with pool noodle foam. The pipe must have end-caps at both ends and be wrapped with strapping tape in two orientations. Basically, follow the instructions for making a D2/3 weapons except substitute 1/2" PVC for the 3/4" PVC that the D2/3's use, and make sure to use the thicker pool noodle foam instead of pipe foam. See me if you have any questions. PVC weapons are much more durable than golf tube weapons, so this is a welcome change.

July 24        LAST PRACTICE BEFORE PENNSIC


July 31  NO PRACTICE, Pennsic Land Grab weekend

THERE WILL BE NO PRACTICES IN AUGUST due to Pennsic and the post-Pennsic recovery and laundry weekend.
