I'm not either. If you intend to keep using Homebrew for other
software, then it's probably not a great idea to also install MacPorts
just for OpenSlide.

When configuring OpenSlide, you would do e.g.
$ PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig ./configure
