Database recovering up to 7 hours

Hello,

I have cyrus-imap installed. All works fine except one - after crash 
ctl_cyrusdb works 5-7 hours. Every time I reboot or just restart cyrus master 
process users cannot get thier mail. I know it's berkley db problem, not 
cyrus. So now I want to switch to other database backend. Can I do it without 
much pain? Or may be someone knows better solution?
