alice-teacher Making a mermaid

I have a question for the alice-teachers list:

I'm asking my students to animate a fariy tale.  Can you give me some ideas for making a mermaid in Alice 3.1?  In Alice 2 you could make parts of the body invisible, but I haven't found anything equivalent in Alice 3.1.
