[6555-penn] Update on Penn Ave parking issues

All,

This email is to give further information in response to the issue of people
getting parking tickets this week.

After speaking with Parking Services, I was told that I will be receiving
"visitors passes" sometime in the next day or so.  For any visitor/vendor
who is at Penn Ave for the day, please send them to see me to get a visitors
pass. I will write the date on the pass, and they will display it in their
car.  The Parking Services patrol will honor these passes, when filled out
and displayed correctly, and will not ticket these cars.  Please note:
These passes cannot be used for more than one day at a time.  A new visitors
pass is required for each day that they are parking in our lot.  

The other issue that was brought to my attention is in regards to the
meters, for the handful of metered parking spaces, that are out in front of
our building.  Some/most of the meters are not functioning properly and/or
the meter window is too dirty to see if it has accepted the quarters that
people are putting into it.  I have notified Parking Services of this issue,
and was told that they are sending someone out to clean and repair all of
our parking meters next week.  They did not specify if Parking Services
patrol would ticket cars parking at the meters from now until the meters are
checked.  For any visitors who do park at a metered space, please have them
see me to get a visitors pass for the day so that they will not get a
ticket. Once the meters are repaired sometime next week, anyone parking at
those spaces will be required to feed the meter with the appropriate number
of quarters to avoid getting a parking ticket.  Remember:  If you are a
staff member with a parking pass, please avoid parking in the metered spaces
at all times.
