To All Students, Faculty, Staff and Sentient AIs:
The eleventh annual SIGBOVIK conference will take place today at
5:30 p.m. in Rashid Auditorium (GHC 4401). With talk topics ranging from
zero-color theorems and the Turing completeness of MS PowerPoint, to
formally verifying romance, you can expect a fun evening of joke
research talks. All are invited to attend!
For fans of Harry Q. Bovik who can't make it in person, we will be
live streaming SIGBOVIK 2017 starting at 17:30 (UTC-4):
A link to the stream will also soon be available on our website.
This year's proceedings will be available for purchase at $9 a copy.
They will also soon be available on the SIGBOVIK 2017 website:
We encourage our SCS graduate student attendees to go check out the TG
organised by Dec/5 in the NSH Atrium before coming to SIGBOVIK. Don't
worry, we've pushed our start time back from 17:00 to 17:30 to give you
time to go partake in the extra fun Dec/5 has organised for us!
What: SIGBOVIK 2017
When: Today at 5:30 p.m.
Where: Rashid Auditorium (GHC 4401), Carnegie Mellon University
Why: Because joke research is no joke!
If you have no idea what’s going on:
SIGBOVIK is an evening of tongue-in-cheek academic presentations. If we
have a goal, it’s to poke fun at our fields and provide a venue for
silly ideas with (often but not always) serious executions. SIGBOVIK has
both a published proceedings and live talks, and everyone is welcome to
participate in either or both of these. All subjects are welcome,
although be advised that the primary audience is computer scientists.
The best way to get a feel for SIGBOVIK is to look at our past
proceedings, which you can find at http://sigbovik.org .
