Yes, that's true. Guilcher did not even discuss this discrepancy, he simply
added an eighth beat to the triory to make it fit his theory.

The seven beats in Arbeau's tune notation versus the eight beats in Breton
folk gavottes might indeed bring Guilcher's theory to fall.

But it is an interesting comparison, worth to think of.

BTW, I remember even some Breton dance teacher who counted to seven, not to
eight, when teaching the Breton gavotte, because the left foot rests in the
air on the eighth beat, as a prolongation of the seventh, preparing for the
first beat again. In fact he was counting the steps, not the beats.
