Greetings All!
November 9th is our Harvest Revel and Barony Meeting, to be held at
Harlech Castle (Home of Sir Byron and Sir Ariella, 755 Stonegate Dr,
Wexford, PA). Many thanks to them for allowing us to invade their
castle for the day! And according to them, there will be an invasion!
His Highness has invited the Aethelmearc Army to join him for
practice, so please welcome our guests from afar!
The martial practices are all moving to the castle that day (archery,
thrown weapons, fencing, youth and adult combat)! There will be
throwing pumpkins from the parapets (BYOP, no rotten ones)! The
Debatable Choir will perform a short mini concert and there will be
PIE!!! As we all can't live on pie alone, although many would try,
bring a dish to contribute to a potluck lunch. PIE counts as a
contribution!
The following information about the pie contest brought to you by
Mistress Hilda from last year's Harvest Revel ... because, well, I
couldn't write it any better!
What would the Harvest Revel be without the pie contest? Bake your
best, Debatable Lands! The competition is fierce and the pie
fantastic! Please bring any pies or pie-like thing (Cookies? Crustless
mini-pies. Cheesecake? Dense custard pie. Pasties? Savory wrap-around
pie. You get the idea!) The categories this year are: Traditional,
Period, and Pie You’ve Never Tried. As always, the entrant picks the
category they want to enter their pie or pies into, with the
interpretation largely left up to you. Traditional could be a pumpkin
or apple pie. Period pies are best served with a touch of
documentation, but it’s not necessary. Pie You’ve Never Tried could be
a new recipe for you, or an unusual pie that most people haven’t
tried, or heck, something else. Be creative!
How do you win your category? Voting is populace favorite, so bring
enough for everyone to sample. Each attendee at the Harvest Revel gets
three markers. They put their marker into their favorite in each
category. The pie or pies with the most markers wins! Ties will be
broken by a panel of experts. The prize is being named the
PIE-MASTER-SUPREME-O for the next year. The GLORY! Oh the GLORIOUS
GLORY!
Here's the planned schedule (somewhat flexible):
Thrown Weapons and Archery start at 11am
Pie contest runs from noon to 3pm
Choir concert is around 1:45pm, with the Barony Meeting announcements to follow
Fighting and Fencing will start after the Barony Meeting (around 2:15pm)
Pumpkin tossing will happen at an appropriate time (tbd)
Notes: No garb unless you really want to. Some activities are
weather-dependent.
Don't forget the PIE!
In Service,
Alaric
Seneschal
