Greetings to the Barony -- this is reprinted here from the Althing, as it is so important that it be seen by all!

Kudos for the Debatable Lands Twelfth Night
January 12, 2013

Vivat! Vivat! Vivat!

Cheers for all of the volunteers who help so that we all may play! With your assistance, the Rose Barn became a medieval festival for the day. If you were there and had a good time, it was all because of these efficient, helpful, wonderful volunteers:

LADY ABBATISSA DE BANNEBERI, kitchen magician extraordinaire, who effortlessly waved her wand and kept the kitchen fresh, clean, and organized, and who helped until the end with cleaning the kitchen and the hall;
LADY AIBELL INGEN CHERNACHAIN who provided amusements for our younger guests;
MASTER ALARIC MACCONNAL who came early and trolled everyone in, and who stayed late to play for the Ball with the rest of the Debatable Consort;
LADY ALIME BINT YORGI who opened the doors in the morning, helped throughout the day, and cleaned her way out the door at the end of the night;
BARONESS MISTRESS AMARYLLIS COLEMAN, who kindly came prepared to minister efficiently to the injured, of which thankfully there were none;
MISTRESS ARIANNA OF WYNTHROPE, first, hall decorator, and then, choir mistress, who led the Debatable Choir through their glorious performance;
LADY BUGGA OF THE DEBATABLE LANDS, the now-previous Baron’s Bardic champion, who entertained the audience with her art as well as organized the many performers in this year’s Bardic Champion’s competition;
LORD CAI O’R LLYN, clearly under the spell of the music at the Twelfth Night Ball, who danced so well and with such joy that many were drawn along with him;
LADY ELIZABETH ARROWSMYTHE who ably organized the many, many items in the Auction of Desirable Things, tracked the bids, and efficiently sold everything;
LORD HRAFNA-ERLENDR INN RAUDI, by coming early, helped to direct the comings and goings of the many carriages, wagons, and horses that delivered their burdens and went off to the parking meadow;
LADY ISABEL FLEURETAN and THLORD KAMESHIMA ZENTAROU UMAKAI, who were relaxing from the events of the fall (their wedding!), instead not only ran the Gift Exchange with the humor and silliness required, BUT also opened the kitchen in the morning, worked there all day, and cleaned up everything that wasn’t nailed down in the evening;
MISTRESS KRIS GILIBARI, organizer of the merchants, who added to the festivity of the day by selecting and inviting merchants to display and sell their wares;
MASTER MICHAEL ALEWRIGHT, Minister Extraordinaire of the Court of Misrule, who helped Their Majesties enjoy Their very brief time on Their stolen thrones, and thanks also to those who appeared in the Fool’s Court;
DOÑA SASHA GRAY for organizing the A&S Champion’s competition, which showcased many of the Barony’s fine artists;
LADY SUMAYYA AL GHAZIYYAH, my deputy, who cleared the Court of Fools out of the hall so that the Baron and Baroness could hold Their court in peace, tended to last-minute shopping, and otherwise kept her eagle eyes on everything;
THLORD URHO WALTTERINEN who ran the cookie competition with his usual organization and restraint (how did he not eat all the cookies?!), and also ran the first populace shoot so that everyone could declare their favorite!

Many thanks are also due to those of you who thoughtfully brought extra chairs and tables, who prepared and presented food of amazing and delicious variety, who helped our many newcomers feel at home and welcome, who joined in the fun of singing and dancing and making music, who ate cake in hope/fear of become the King or Queen of Misrule, who donated to the Auction of Valuable Stuff (either by bringing things to contribute or by forgetting things last year!), who shoveled snow or strewed salt, who generously donated food for those less fortunate, and as always, my most favorite-est people of all, those who helped clean, collect trash, and volunteered to take home leftovers at the end of the night!

To all of you, I say again, many, many thanks!

If I did not list someone by name or deed, please know that the fault is mine, but that everyone’s assistance is most gratefully appreciated. Please let me know who has been omitted so that I may render thanks where it is due.
Yours in Service to the Barony,
Elss of Augsburg
