Greetings to all Youth Fighters and their parents!

Last weekend Eiiden, Kenneth, and Robert participated in the Youth Tourney at the Festival of the Passing of the Ice Dragon in the Barony of the Rhydderich Hael (Buffalo, NY). Congratulations to Lord Robert, who was the victor in the 5-man field.

This Sunday, Debatable Lands youth combat practice heads back outdoors to the park at the corner of Washington Blvd. and Allegheny River Blvd. in the East End, where we will remain until fall. Map here: http://goo.gl/maps/FX4wg

Practice runs from 2-5pm as usual. The high temp is supposed to be around 60 but it will be cloudy with a possibility of showers. I'll have my pop-up canopy there in case of rain.  As always, loaner gear is available for kids ages 6-17 who would like to try youth combat.

***Make sure to bring a water bottle***  There is NO running water on site.  The good news is that when we were there a few weeks ago, the portajohn was in good condition. If you want a place to sit between bouts, remember to bring a folding chair.

IRON COMET on April 13 will feature a youth tourney as part of the youth Iron Comet championship. Youth fighting begins at noon with inspections, followed by the tourney at 12:30. Tourney format will depend on the number of fighters; bear pit or round robin are most likely. There will also be melees. **You must be an authorized fighter to compete in the tourney at any SCA event**. To be eligible for the Iron Comet championship, you MUST enter the Arts & Sciences competition plus at least two of the three martial areas: archery, thrown weapons, and youth combat. If you enter all three martial areas, your lowest martial score will be dropped for purposes of tallying scores to determine the champion.

Never tried archery or thrown weapons? You can use loaner gear and try them this Sunday - both archery and thrown weapons practices run from 11am - 2pm at the Washington Blvd. site. They're lots of fun, I highly recommend them! More info on the event, which will be at the Pitcairn-Monroeville Sportsmen's Club on April 13, is here: http://debatablelands.org/events/iron_comet/ and on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/462368230449978/
