Greetings,
Due to the weather projection of rain - and the fact it is raining now- I
am cancelling BMDL rapier practice for today, May 13. That does not,
however, mean you can't work on something! Here are my suggestions.
Proper footwork is the basis of all rapier fighting, no matter what style
it is one follows. I had planned to work on Capo Ferro's style today, but
instead I suggest working on lines of attack. Movement forwards and
backwards should be primarily in an X manner. Practice moving forward
forward at an angle, and back at an angle. Consider how this affects
distance from a fixed point, or a partner moving towards/away from you.
Swords are not necessary for the drill, but can be used to practice
engagement range at the same time.
