Greetings!

Just a reminder that Youth Combat practices are suspended for the duration of Pennsic. Next practice will be on August 19th.

Congratulations to Guion, who celebrated his birthday (and his switch from Division 2 to Division 3) at last Sunday's practice with birthday "smacks" from his fellow youth fighters. He also won the "axe of doom" in a round robin tourney devised by Kenneth. Thanks to his mom, Caniodricca, for bringing pizza for all the youth fighters!

FOR PENNSIC, a few suggestions:

- Bring your authorization card when you sign in at Youth Combat on the battlefield.

- Always bring a water bottle and sunscreen with you to the list!

- Make sure your weapons have a "window" in the tape through which the marshals can tell what material it is made from (rattan, PVC, golf tube, etc.). This will prevent the marshals from having to cut through your tape to verify the weapon's construction.

- Remember that PVC weapons will be legal AT Pennsic but will NO LONGER be allowed AFTER Pennsic. Rattan weapons ARE legal (but not required) for all divisions at Pennsic.

- Read the youth combat rules for Pennsic, which are somewhat DIFFERENT from AEthelmearc rules, especially regarding calibration and how blows are counted in D1. They are located here: http://www.pennsicwar.org/penn41/DEPTS/MARTIAL/youthcombat.html

- Be courteous, chivalrous, and honorable, participate in lots of tourneys and the Castle Battle, try to make new friends on the tourney field, and HAVE FUN!

See you at Pennsic!

Arianna
