[SCA-BMDL] CORRECTION (Was Re: BMDL Rapier Champions Tournament)

Gracious gentles of the Debatable Lands and surrounding
areas, warm greetings and good wishes to you. 

I write to you this day in regard
to the pending BMDL Rapier Championship of their
incipient Excellencies, The Honorable Lord Ulliam and The Honorable Lady
Constance. There was a point of order of which their Lordship and Ladyship were
previously unaware and we regret that only residents of the Debatable Lands
will be eligible to stand as rapier champion for the Barony. Regardless, our
friends and cousins will be welcome one and all to try their steel and share honor
in the preliminary rounds of the tournament.  

   

We hope to once again seal
bonds of friendship and shared experience upon the field and in the feasthall
at the BMDL Investiture this August 27th. 
We will meet at the Unitarian Universalist Church of the North Hills,
2359 West Ingomar Road, Pittsburgh PA 15237. More information about this event,

      Unto the fencers of the Barony Marche of the Debatable Lands and AEthelmearc does Dona Sasha Gray send greetings.



For the past year, I have had the pleasure of serving our fair Barony and Their Excellencies Byron and Ariella as the BMDL Rapier Champion.



Alas, the wheels of time and change roll ever onward. In just a few short weeks, the coronets of the Barony Marche will be donned by new heirs, and the title of rapier champion must likewise pass to another.



Their incipient Excellencies, The Honorable Lord Ulliam and The Honorable Lady Constance, have requested that a tournament be held at their Investiture to determine their new rapier champion.



BMDL Investiture will take place on August 27th, 2011, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of the North Hills, 2359 West Ingomar Road, Pittsburgh PA 15237. More information about this event, including directions, can be found here: http://www.debatablelands.org/events/investiture/



Inspections and sign-ins will immediately follow morning court, and the tournament will begin at noon. The tournament format will be as follows: high scoring eligible fighters will be pulled from preliminary round robin pools into the finals. Finalists in this tournament will be required to use all four weapons forms during final bouts.



Their incipient Excellencies invite all rapier fighters residing in the BMDL to compete for the position of champion. In addition, they invite fencers who reside in Cantons, Shires, & Colleges bordering or supported by the Barony Marche (e.g., Steltonwald, Sunderoak, Gryffyn’s Keep, Silva Vulcani, King’s Crossing, Ballaclagan) to petition for full eligibility in this tournament. Canton, Shire, and College fencers may send petitions to liamandconstance at gmail.com; petitioners should demonstrate activity at Baronial functions and a willingness to serve as a Baronial retainer. The winner of this tournament will be expected to stand with Their Excellencies at court, and also to represent the Barony as a combatant in the prestigious Seven Pearls Rapier Championship in July, 2012.



Fencers who wish to participate in the tournament but who cannot or who are not eligible to serve as BMDL rapier champion will have an opportunity to participate in preliminary rounds.
