Please join us for our monthly Arts and Sciences Night this Wednesday!

Arts and Sciences Class Announcement: Soapmaking
Date: Wednesday, September 19
Time: 8 pm
Location: Room 542, William Pitt Union (university of Pittsburgh Oakland
Campus
Instructor: Karaznina Semenova vdova Iul'iana

Please join us for a class on soapmaking! Topics covered will include:

*History of soapmaking and which process (hot or cold) is more likely
authentic
*How to render animal fats to make tallow
*How to make your own lye if you are so inclined
*Recipe(s) you can try at home - as authentically as you like or not

Because of the types of processes involved, this is not primarily a hands on
class, but you should leave equipped with all the information you need to
make your own soap at home, and maybe even some sample soap.

The class will be held in room 542 of the William Pitt Union, on the corner
of Fifth and Bigelow in Oakland. Street parking is generally available
within a block or two.

Hope to see you there-

Lady Saskia van Ouwater
BMDL Minister of Arts and Sciences
