To all the gentles of the Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands,

I am hoping to become your Baron.

I have been a member of the Society for more than twenty-four years and all
of them in the Barony. I thank Master Bertram for pulling me in. I
especially thank Mistress Eromene for introducing me to my wife, Mistress
Isabelle Elaine of Salisbury, at a Barony meeting, no less. Together we had
two wonderful boys, William Parris and Theodoric Hellehundt (Christopher
and Edward) who have grown up in the SCA and have enjoyed it as much as I
have. I thank Baroness Serena Lucia for inviting me into her Household and
introducing me to even more members. I thank Baron Leonard and Baroness
Anna for being my first Baron and Baroness and showing me the pride we can
take in our homeland. There are too many more to name individually who have
shown me their joy, friendship, and support these many years.

There is no excuse in the SCA not to try something of everything.

I have had a opportunity to participate in the SCA in many ways. I served
the Barony as Comet Pursuivant. I have cooked and cleaned up at feasts. I
actually fought for a few years (bridge battles at Pennsic are the most
fun!!!). I fenced when it first started. Isabelle and I were regulars at
dance practice (until the boys got too much to handle). I learned to make
simple costumes and embroidery. I really learned to cook! Ask me to make
pies and cookies sometime!!

About six years ago, my sons and I have discovered archery. This has given
me a reason for expanding my participation in the SCA. I've been enthused
enough to attend more events (especially camping events) outside the Barony
and not only meet distant archers but many fellow members. For the past
three years, I have served the Barony as Captain of Archers. It has been my
great pleasure to not only see the attendees grow in number, but all the
youth archers that have been enthusiastic archers on our range. (A special
thanks to all parents that attend with them to help me marshall the range).

I believe that the future direction of the Barony is to encourage her
children to even further participation in any and all activities. Weekly
they attend archery and youth fighting. I see them helping at feasts as
servers. At fighting events they are runners for the lists. This all must
continue. This is the SCA's future. Please teach me what else can be done
to include them and I will see that it is done.

Regardless of what may come...

In service to the Barony-Marche,

Urho Waltterinen

subscribe to this list post a little blurb describing themselves, and maybe
one or two sentences about what they would like to do as baron/ess. It
would be very useful in deciding how to respond.
