LOCAL MAN HONORS HIS MOTHER'S MEMORY BY=20
SENDING A NEW PET HOME WITH YOU
=20
PITTSBURGH - You can view all of the animals up for adoption at the =
Western
PA Humane Society by going online to wpahumane.org. The website even
informs you what animals are at either location. And you'll want to be =
sure
you select the animal of your dreams this Sunday because a generous man =
is
honoring his mother's memory by making an effort to help the animals of =
the
Western PA Humane Society!

David Brand has offered to cover all Mother's Day adoption fees for pets
adopted or applied for from one of their two shelters - on Pittsburgh's
Northside and on Fallen Timber Road in Elizabeth. His mother, Eileen
"Laurie Dazz" Brand, was a passionate animal lover, and David believes =
this
is the way to remember her on this holiday. =20
=20
"People will still have to purchase the $25 annual membership to use our
low-cost veterinary clinic, and we will adopt only one pet for free to a
family, to ensure that we are not overloading a home. All of our normal
adoption procedures will still be followed," assured Lee Nesler, Western =
PA
Humane Society Executive Director. =20
=20
Some animals may not be able to go home on Sunday. People must file
applications for adoption and allow a home visit or a meet and greet =
with
other owned pets, before the animal is placed. As long as the =
application
is filled out on Mother's Day, they would count towards this unique
promotion. =20
=20
The required annual membership fee of $25 covers an adopter's ability to
make appointments at the two shelters' wellness clinics, provides them =
with
the newsletter, and discounted rates on other Western PA Humane Society
products and services that they may utilize in the future. =20
=20
Founded in 1874, the Western PA Humane Society is Pittsburgh's oldest =
animal
charity, operating two open-door shelters in Allegheny County. They =
also
provide a low-cost spay neuter program, obedience classes for dogs of =
all
ages, Humane Education programs in schools and businesses, and cruelty =
and
abuse investigations. Last year the two shelters took in almost 13,000
animals. =20
=20
The shelters are both open from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Sunday. =20
