The shield in question was already on its way out. But once the kids
realized they were
actually demolishing it and no one was going to yell at them, they redoubled
their efforts
and kept calling friends over from other groups to join in the orgy of
destuction.
I now know how a pinata feels at a birthday party(but it in not candy that I
am full of).

"shield ended up in bits all over the floor"?
Is this a tale of mighty blows, or a simple failure of a well-worn piece of
equipment -- or perhaps simply a further part of the demonstration, as to
how such things are constructed in the Current Middle Ages?
(Itching to turn this into an appropriate tale, even though I reside in
other lands... [Barony of the Steppes, Ansteorra])
