Hi everyone,

We hope that you’ve all been having a great summer so far. We also hope that there’s a void in your hearts from the temporary dissolution of the Systems Reading Group™.

Thanks to the roaring success of the Spring edition and continued patronage from Karen and Greg, we’re back for the summer. The time we’ve settled on and seems to work for everyone is 5pm-6pm on Wednesdays, starting 6/14.

We mostly expect it to be the same pattern - one person leading the discussion, dinners included, orders collected in a spreadsheet the day before. It’s a smaller group since folks are traveling for the summer, but we should more than make up for it with that extra dash of enthusiasm.

Content-wise, we’re considering some new ideas to make sure that the discussions are valuable for everyone. Ideas, feedback, and concerns are all welcome. All discussion happens on Slack and you should feel free to jump in and express opinions there :).

In the spirit of spring cleaning, we are also abandoning the separate Slack group in favor of a #reading-group channel on the PDL Slack (parallel-data-lab.slack.com). Most folks should already be there, and if you voted on the poll but are not there, we will send you an invite. Please ask to be invited if we missed you.

Stay tuned for more updates, and please _join the Slack channel_.

Thanks!
Juncheng, Ziyue, and Ankush
