See?, there's no "SASL" line there. That means that sieveshell isn't 
finding any suitable sasl plugin. Check that you have at least the plain 
sasl plugin installed. If you were using mandrake I'd tell you to "urpmi 
libasasl2-plug-plain" but since you're using redhat/fedora I don't know 
which rpm you have to install.
