A cyrus-imapd RPM based on Simon's work is already part of Fedora Core
2!

So the original poster's question was correct. Unfortunately he did not
give much information what makes his setup job so hard. All it needs for
basic tasks (with system users as recipients) is to setup the MTA
(Sendmail, Postfix, Exim) to use the correct LMTP socket path.
