Replacing RH binary rpms

I wish to replace the RH ES3 binary rpms for
cyrus-sasl... with the src rpm builds from
invoca.ch.

I cannot remove the RH rpms because of dependencies.
Should I force remove them before installing the
rpm builds from src?
