Still having the problem after upgrading to 2.1.16. The /var filesystem 
is using reiserfs, if that makes any difference... stock kernel 2.4.25.

There also seems to be an odd delay when I restart the master process 
before it begins accepting mail via the lmtp socket. Sometimes it will 
take ten or fifteen minutes before it will start accepting mail via 
/var/lib/cyrus/socket/lmtp
