I do occasionally get these errors, but they're intermittent and rare (I'm
running Outlook 2000, Cyrus 2.1.15, and I get a timeout error about once a
day). From what I can tell, OL2000 has two simultaneous connections open at
any given moment. One connection handles user actions (selecting folders,
opening messages, copying, deleting, expunging, etc.) and the other checks
for new mail in all subscribed folders at the interval specified under "Mail
Account Options" ("Check for new messages every X minutes"). I haven't been
able to 100% verify this, but it seems like the connection that does the
periodic checking is the one that is timing out. When I disable this period
check, the timeout errors go away. This isn't a solution for me however as
I user Sieve to deliver all of my mailing list messages to seperate folders
and I like to know when I have new mail in those folders.

Strangely enough I have other clients running Outlook 2000, same service
pack, same patches, and they get the errors much more frequently than I do.
I haven't been able to determine what the difference is yet...

Anyway, no solutions here, just wanted to share my experiences.
