Does your server machine log indicate any kind of segfaults in imapd at 
about the same time? Once this happens, does it continue to happen if you 
immediately try to re-open the mailbox? Once you get into a state like 
that, can you try telnetting to the server and issuing the thread command 
(as seen in the log) and see what happens?
