Cyrus Authentication problems

You need to word your imtest request differently (add another option)
according to the error you got its expecting roots password not testuser  

> [root at mail root]# imtest -u testuser -m login localhost

this is because you are logged in as root  reword as follows  and it should 
work...
imtest -u testuser -a testuser -m login localhost

that way you are useing testusers mailbox an  authenticateing as testuser as 
well
