sasl + courier-authlib

I am trying to compile sasl to authenticate against my tested and working
courier-authlib installation on a Redhat 3.0 ES machine

with the --with-authdaemon Path= option

Note that I have this setup working on a fedora core 2 machine but I'm
having trouble reproducing it on Redhat

if anyone can offer some assistance it would be greatly appreciated
