Hello Ballroom Friends,

Welcome back! We hope everyone had a great Spring Break and is excited to
be back to Ballroom. Read on for information on Scotch Ball, Nationals,
Rounds and more!


General Announcements:

Membership Dues: For those of you that attended at least two lessons and
would like to continue, lessons are due this upcoming week! $40 for
students. $80 for non-students. Cash or check to the tablers at lessons.

Scotch Ball: Get excited! Scotch Ball is happening SATURDAY, MARCH 19 at
Phipps Conservatory from 8pm-midnight. Free beginner lessons will continue
this week beginning at 7:40pm on Monday and Wednesday.

If you have not paid for your ticket yet, MONDAY, MARCH 14 is your last day
to do so. You may pay with cash or check to the tablers at lessons. If you
must pay with a card, please email mivantec at andrew.cmu.edu. On Tuesday,
your ticket will be given to someone on the waitlist if it is not paid for
(or you have let us know when you will pay).

USA Dance Nationals: USA Dance Amateur and Collegiate National
Championships are happening APRIL 1-3 in Pittsburgh and since there is no
travel, the competition is free* for collegiate competitors (aka you have
no reason not to show up 😊). If you have questions and/or need competition
attire, see any officer during lessons!

      *The club will be covering registration fees for all active club
members. Adult (non-collegiate) competitors have to pay for individual
events. Everyone is responsible for buying their own USA Dance Membership
(see below). More details in the registration form.

on a tight timeline for registration, so please submit your forms ASAP! The
absolutely final deadline for forms is WEDNESDAY, MARCH 16! If you're
hesitant about registering for a specific event, it is always better to do
so ahead of time, and change your mind the day of than try to register the
day of.

The cost is $25 for students and $70 for adults. You are responsible for
obtaining this membership on your own. Follow the instructions below to get
yours!

   Scroll to the bottom of the page and click JOIN
   2.

   Select DanceSport - Ballroom
   3.

   Enter your registration information (use your email address as the
   username, and select the Pittsburgh, PA Chapter #3007)
   4.

   Select DanceSport Student - $25.00 (or Adult - $70 for non-collegiate
   competitors)
   5.

   Enter additional profile information & submit payment
   6.

   Email McKenzie (mckenziv at andrew.cmu.edu) your membership card!


Volunteer info: If you would like to volunteer, please talk to Christine.
You will get free admission into any session you volunteer for but are not
dancing in (you already get free admission into sessions you are dancing
in). Please keep in mind that you will be representing the CMU team (and
Pittsburgh in general as the competition is hosted here), so conduct
yourselves appropriately if you volunteer.

Social at Pitt: The Ballroom Club at Pitt would like to formally invite CMU
ballroom club members to attend our social on THURSDAY, MARCH 17! The
social will be from 8-10pm in the William Pitt Union Assembly Room! There
will be no lesson this time. If you are interested in attending, please
sign up with the link below, so we can give you a guest pass to enter the
building. If you do not receive a confirmation email by Wednesday 3/16 at
9pm, please message Amy Padia through email (AMP309 at pitt.edu) or Facebook
messenger ASAP to find a different email address to use for you. Also

Competition Video Review: We will be hosting a video review on FRIDAY,
MARCH 25 from 6-8pm in Wean Hall Room 5403! We will be ordering pizza and
watching videos from both OSB and Arnold together. For current dancers,
this is a great opportunity to review your own dancing and receive
constructive feedback to prepare for Nationals! For new dancers, this is an
awesome way to learn more about how competitions work! And for everyone...
Who doesn't like a Friday night with a bunch of fun people and delicious
pizza!



Rounds & Late Rounds: Please come to Rounds at 7:20pm both Monday and
Wednesday! McKenzie will be providing more information about Nationals at
the beginning, so if you are at all interested in competing this year (or
in future years) come see us! It is also a great time to practice what
you’ve learned in lessons, watch veteran dancers, and get introduced to
what a competition might look like. Late Rounds will also be occurring on
Monday at 10:30pm!
