[CMUBDC] Ballroom Rush! - Week of 1/20/2020

Hello Ballroom friends,

Thank you to all who came to* Rush* last week! We loved to see you all
there and a big welcome to our new members!

Sorry, this email is a bit long this week, but it has a lot of important
information. Please be sure to* read carefully!*

*Ballroom Rush* also happens on the *second week of classes*! No experience
or partner is needed and its completely *free* and open to everybody, so
please come and join us for some wonderful showcases, lessons, and FREE
FOOD! We will explain how to join our club, and talk a bit more about our
competition team. All event will be taking place the *Rangos Auditorium of
the Conan University Center*.

Tuesday 1/21 @7:00PM - 9:30PM : Rumba & Hustle

Wednesday 1/22 @7:00PM - 9:30PM : American Foxtrot & Salsa

Also,* NEWCOMER DANCERS PLEASE IGNORE THIS*, auditions for the intermediate
and advanced level classes are this week. *Please show up on time at 5:30
PM at Rangos ready to dance.*

Important Note on the pricing for club membership: For *non-student dancers*,
the member ship has been increased to* $75 for the intermediate/gold level
dancers*, and *$80 for the beginner level dancers*. For students, the
pricing has not changed.

On another note, the* calendars* have been* updated* with this semesters
lessons. Be sure to *check *to make sure you have them in your calendars!

January 25 at* 10:30 AM* in the* Danforth Lounge* of the CUC.

We also have* TWO socials* coming up!

The first social is the first *CMU BDC Social of the Spring semester* and
2020 year! The theme is *Valentine's Day.* This will occur on *February 1*,
in the *Rangos Ballroom* of the CUC starting at *7:00 PM*. Please note that
we have *changed the pricing* for our socials. Please see the Upcoming Events
section for more details.

The second social is a *USA Dance social* on *February 15*; they will be*
fundraising* for our club, so please go to show your support!

*Pricing:*

Rush is* FREE.*

*Beginner dancers*: We recommend you attend both the professionally taught
newcomer lessons and the student taught beginner lessons. This membership
only costs a *flat $35 for students*, covering the entire semester! For
non-students, this fee is $75.

Upcoming Events and Announcements
*Auditions*

*If you are a beginner dancer, you can ignore this.* Anyways, auditions
will be held Tuesday, 1/21 for Standard and Wednesday, 1/22 for Latin. You
must audition if you want to take intermediate+ professional lessons and
have not already placed into the Gold professional lesson. Please email
cmuballroom at gmail.com for any difficulties with these times.

*Adam's Professional-Taught Beginner Salsa and Bachata Lessons*

Adam's classes will start 1/27 at 9:30PM. *These are great lessons for
beginners to take!* For pricing and more information, please see our
website: cmubdc.org* Please note that we have switched the days Salsa and
Bachata are being taught on.* Mondays for Salsa, and Wednesdays for Bachata.

*Competition Team Meet n' Greet* (Saturday, Janruary 25, 2020: 10:30 AM, UC
- Danforth Lounge)

Are you interested in practicing your dance skills?  How about hanging out
with friends on weekend road trips to neighboring cities for competitions?
Our competition team might be right for you!! We practice from 12:30-3:30
PM on Saturdays and Sundays in the UC Activities Room.  We also have fun
social events like apple picking and board game parties. Come and learn
more about us! Coming to meet and greet doesn’t mean you have to commit to
the comp team, and joining doesn’t require an audition, partner, or even
dance experience!

*Newcomer Bootcamp* (Sun 1/26, Sat 2/1, Sun 2/2: 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM, UC -
Activities Room):

New members, you’ll learn more about the dances you saw/learned at rush, as
well as some new dances! Don’t worry if you missed a few days of rush,
we’ll get you caught up! On Saturday we’ll focus on the standard dances
(waltz, tango, and quickstep), and on Sunday we’ll do the latin dances
(rumba, cha cha, and jive).

*Valentines Day Social *(Saturday, February 1, 2020: 7:00 PM, UC - Rangos)

CMU Ballroom Presents the Spring Social Series: *VALENTINE'S DAY SOCIAL!!*
Whether you have found THE ONE or you're single af, it's time to dance!
Join us in* CUC Rangos on February 1st* for an unforgettable night of
dancing and fun. Hope to see you there!

*Pricing:* *$10* per person, *-$5* for members, *-$5* for students,* Free
for CMU Students *with ID. (Yes, there is math involved. It's okay, I
believe in you!)
