Hello everyone...

...and especially the newcomers! Week 2 means newcomer meet-and-greet, boot
camp, and Andy's for the veterans!

*1. Newcomer Meet-and-Greet: 11:30am, Danforth Lounge*

Come one, come all to the newcomer meet-and-greet! Newcomers, we (the comp
team) are all super excited to meet you :) If you know you want to compete,
or are on the fence, or just want to check us out, join us for (more) free
food and cheesy icebreakers!

Danforth is on the *second floor of the UC*, at the end of the same hallway
as the activities room. It's also *above the info desk near Wiegand Gym*
(the basketball courts).

*2. Weekend Practice: 12:30-3:30pm, Activities Room (for newcomer boot
camp), Andy's (for vets)*

I'll actually be there this time :) *rounds will be at 2:30pm!*

*3. Newcomer Boot Camp Week 1: Teaching Assignments*

Newcomer boot camp is two weekends long. During this first weekend,
different veteran couples will be teaching the newcomer steps for each of
the 6 dances that newcomers compete in.

*Saturday: Standard steps (12:30-2pm)*

   - 12:30-12:55pm: Waltz, Vivek Sridhar and Stephanie Wang
   - 1:00-1:25pm: Tango, Will Hart and Alicia Wu
   - 1:30-1:55pm: Quickstep, Stephen Kruzick and Krystle Koe

*Sunday: Latin steps*

   - 12:30-12:55pm: Rumba, Elliott Toy and Rachel Sniffen
   - 1:00-1:25pm: Cha-Cha, Paula Halpern
   - 1:30-1:55pm: Jive, Jinhee Lee and Kristen Clark

*4. Comp team calendar: http://tinyurl.com/compteamcalendar
<http://tinyurl.com/compteamcalendar>*

Remember to refer to the calendar for important comp team events! This
weekend is *supervised bronze practices*. This means that if you're in
*intermediate
1 or 2*, the first half hour of practice is to answer your questions :)

*5. Video of the week: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehndKwt-Rqk
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehndKwt-Rqk>*

This week, we have a samba showcase by the #2 ranked professional Latin
couple in the world, Maurizio Vescovo and Andra Vaidilaite. In dance and in
life, it's important to relax and have fun doing what you enjoy: that's
when you do it best!

Happy dancing,

William Tong
