Another thought, this might be a little less time consuming…

Instead of using the Alice 2 pose feature, which has always been a bit flaky, perhaps you could create a set of methods for the object that put the model into the pose you desired, and then save out that model to be distributed to and used by the students. Essentially this is what the pose feature is trying to do, to automatically create his method or pose, by reading the configuration of the object in the Scene Editor.

For example, if you wanted a sittingPose, create the method for the object called sit, which moves the limbs of the object into the appropriate position. Let me know if you have any questions.
