Joe,
I certainly understand not being able to upgrade in the middle of a Cours semester. Here is something your student can try to work around this problem…

In the scene editor, have your student record on a sheet of paper the dimensions (size, width, depth) of the box that he is working with. In the code editor, create a method named something like Setup, in which the student uses the box procedures to set the size, width, and depth of the box recorded from the Scene Editor.

Then in the details… option of each procedure select duration -> 0.0 seconds and policy -> Preserve Nothing. (See the attached screen shot). I have also attached a sample program.

Then run the setup method as the first step in the project.

Let me know I you have any other questions.

All the best,
Don Slater

Alice Project

We are currently using 3.3.1.2 and probably will not be able to get an upgrade for a little bit...it would have to go through our IT dept. and it usually takes a few days. Besides, it's only happening to one kid and I don't want to do anything that may trigger other issues.

After reading your response, I'm thinking it is a related issue. I've attached a pic for you to see what was happening. Oddly enough by the way, the humvee was still able to be controlled as per the tutorial.

He has resized it to be smaller and gave it a color change. While working with the program he doesn't experience any issues however when re-opening the file the next time to work on it, the box reverts back to the default size but the color remains. Yes, he does save regularly while working. Any thoughts...
