Dear All,

First up I want to let everyone know that our last release introduced an issue that unnecessarily overtaxes CPU specifically on Mac and Linux machines. If you have the most recent release 3.3.1.1 we highly recommend you update to our hot fix release that is now available on the Alice 3 page. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. You can read more in the update here:

On a positive note I want to call attention to some new materials that were recently added to the website showcasing how audio can be added to Alice worlds to enrich projects. Special thanks to our audio intern Julian Korzeniowsky for creating a new audio library expansion pack that can be found on the Audio Library resource pages for both Alice 2 and Alice 3. You can also view a new featured world he created to showcase the different types of audio integration that can be implemented ranging from looping background music to custom captured speech. The supporting how to videos are focused on Alice 3 but I am hoping Julian will find some time to create the same materials for Alice 2.

Another special thanks goes out to Jiaxin Wen our design intern for her work cleaning up our document templates, logo files and much more. Thanks to her you can see our new amazing Alice intro and outro animations that bring the logo to life on the new audio how to videos. We are excited to incorporate these great pieces into all of our future materials. Take a look here:

I do have a new request to find out if any of you out there have experience teaching Alice as well as teaching Unity. We are starting to do some examination of how things that students learn in Alice could be more directly leveraged when transitioning to learning Unity and would love to hear from people willing to lend insight or have discussions around that subject. Please feel free to email me directly if you can help.

Lastly Jennifer thank you for pointing out our missing resources. We are still working to go through and clean up all the current materials and update so please check back. Thank you to those who have pointed out other videos that are referenced in other materials that people need. We are working to get new version of those back up as well. Please don’t hesitate to request specific materials or share videos you have created or are using and we will do what we can to turn them around as quickly as possible.

Sincerely,

Eric
