alice-teacher s Digest, Vol 75, Issue 4

Terry,
I did not mean to imply that Camtasia was the best / only tool for this. There are a lot of good tools that are available and that students may already be familiar with.

I am glad that you asked the question and brought it to our attention. The ability to merge worlds has a lot of value for students. This has made me realize that we need to put more thought into the issue, and provide more support, either through the software, or in curriculum resources that will help with preparation and planning.

All the best,
Don Slater

You can take advantage of the 3D nature of Alice and build the forest scene in front of the camera position, the snowman scene to the right of the camera, and the ogre scene to the left of the scene, and then turn the camera. It is possible to change ground textures( from grass to snow for example) and the lighting within the program as you turn the camera to face the new scene.

Which means her moves would not work as originally planned. If and when Alice implements multiple scenes, this is something that the creator of the program will have to take into account into their design, moving and placing a character appropriately for each scene.

Alice project files (.a2w or .a3p) are actually compressed files and some browsers will recognize this and try to uncompress the files, making them unusable in Alice. Generally, right-clicking on the file in the browser and choosing to specifically save the file to a location on your machine, should bypass this problem.
