alice-teacher s Digest, Vol 75, Issue 4

To minimize copying,
1) I provide a 20% partially written Alice program, something I put
together quickly and require the students to complete it.
2) My assignments require a "written by John Smith, 12/1/16" when pressing
the "n" key. Last minute procrastinators often forget and submit work with
another student name.
3) I give a small bonus points when assignments are submitted early. It
means I can electronically return the programs with a request to fix an
error. This give students good feedback but requires more work on my part.
4) From the library are some 20 year old paper / pencil puzzle books. I
sometimes have the students to write programs that solves it. This is not
likely posted online. For example:
A N T E Each number uses the same digits.
- E T N A Find what are the numbers.
