alice-teacher Student worlds crashing

Don – Just an FYI – We are running Alice 2.x and 3.x – (3.2.5.0.0.) Latest version of each on a Windows 64 Bit laptop and the 24 classroom computers are dual-boot iMACS running OSX and Windows 7 64 Bit. All computers are joined to a network domain and user accounts come from the domain. We run Alice on both sides, Windows and MAC. All OSX and Windows software, including video drivers, JAVA, and whatever else are fully updated. We are currently not experiencing any issues.

I did experience a similar issue with one student recently, but I removed all reference to the user from the Windows registry and deleted the user account info (from C:\Users ) and that resolved the problem. Fortunately, I have access to that and the ability to keep the computers updated.

Just to be clear because of the context, ar you referring to version 3.1.61.0.0, or to the latest Alice version, 3.2.5.0.0?

Thank you,

I have had the same experience this year. It almost seems that any worlds complicated enough to interest my students as a game cannot be supported by Alice. I have been surprised that I have not seen other similar complaints. Any hints on what we are doing wrong?

Some of my students’ worlds are crashing after they have been building it for several days. This has happened in the past. They are using 3.1.61.0.0. I’ve tried to get my IT people to update to the newest version, but they won’t due to the file size. It is very frustrating and demoralizing for them to work so hard and have their work all lost. Is there anything I can do to prevent this or for them to be able to recover their work? This is all we get:
