Have you seen the tutorials located at the Alice website, on this page:

	http://www.alice.org/index.php?page=gallery/index

You might upgrade to the latest version of Alice 2 (2.4.2) to see if you have any better success. I am not surprised that you are having problems with Storytelling, as that is a modified version of Alice 2, by Caitlin Kelleher for her PhD dissertation. And Alice 2.2 is old enough that changes on our end or within the tools you are using may contribute to your difficulties.
