Hi Adrian,
Alice is Java-based, so it should dove-tail very nicely with your AP CS course. We have had a lot of discussions recently about the different versions of Alice (Don and others have sent out some great information). What is the focus/goal of your CS1 course? Is it a pre-req to your AP CS?
I don't have any answers about a F2F Alice training in your area. Good luck and welcome! Lea

Subject: alice-teacher ALICE training
I am in the DFW area of Texas. Does anyone know of any face-to-face training in implementing ALICE in the classroom. I have used Visual Basic 6 for years in my beginning Computer Science class. However, it is outdated and Microsoft no longer supports it. I am looking for a language that has students using graphics from the very beginning. So I want to learn ALICE to see if it will fit my students’ needs. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
