I don't think you can do that as described. The way we do it in my class is
to have the camera pan to the left or right until all objects are out of
sight, change the ground and sky properties (color) to reflect outer
space,then drop a dummy camera, which allows you a point of reference to
return to. It appears as though the world has changed - or a new world has
been created.
