Just out of curiosity, how many adults would do their "job" with out compensation? What I think is sad,  the honor of being a winner  not longer seems to valued.

It’s still a mystery to me why
students should somehow be compensated for doing their job well. Isn’t a
student’s duty to perform well in class?

What happened to kids being motivated by a sense of accomplishment for
a job well done...It is disappointing that as role models we feel compelled to
enable and encourage a sense of something is only worth doing if you have
a tangible reward...

I know my kids would be
MUCH more likely to win if they get prizes. A $50 MasterCard gift card would be
a HUGE motivator for them.
