alice-teacher source for reading error messages

Is there a web site or something that will help me figure out what the error
messages mean?  I actually have never programmed in java, only in the Alice
environment.  I know programming, of course, from other languages which is
how I'm able to teach the class.  But java per se is new to me.  Is there
anywhere someone can point me, maybe a tutorial, where I can learn to read
the error messages?
