Karen,
In the home directory of each user. Alice attempts to write an invisible .alice2 directory which stores the preferences information. You should look to see if this directory is there for students who are having difficulty retaining their preferences. If Alice cannot find this at startup, it will create a new one, but with default preferences.

All students are on the same network drive, and have the same access. Our problem is that for some of the students, when they turn off Alice and then turn it back on the next time, all their preferences are reset back to the default. The preferences for the other half of the students stayed as they had set them. What can I look for to fix this problem?
