alice-teacher Alice on a network

This is the second year I am teaching Alice as an intro to Java course. My district is running Alice off our network server and we are seeing errors where short cuts disappear, individual students cannot access Alice, and sometimes Alice will never load.

It was brought to my attention that Alice runs better when installed on individual computers rather than running from a network. Can anyone confirm or dispute this statement? Does anyone have other solutions we may use?

Any info is appreciated!
