alice-teacher converting to a string

I want to convert an int to a string.  I am playing a guess my number and I
want the red cow to tell the blue cow that his/her number is <  or > by a
certain amount.  I get the subtraction to work but I need to convert the
variable to a string.  I know to use the what as string but it won't go in
the right place.  Any ideas?
