alice-teacher Too many objects?

A student is creating an e-card with about 40 objects and 30 dummy objects, with some more to add.  The program is saving VERY slowly (10-15 minutes).  We reduced the number of backup copies to 2, but it didn't seem to help much.  Does anyone have any suggestions other than to use less objects?  We are using a Mac with 4G RAM.
