Professors Knew About Students W/Disabilities
To: <accesscomputingteam at uw.edu>

Hey AccessComputing Team members -

Did you know AccessComputing doesn't just work with our team members?
Another aspect of AccessComputing is our work with faculty; we talk a lot
with faculty about universal design in learning and other strategies on how
to make their courses more accessible to students with disabilities.

With that in mind, we invite you to help us make a video compilation of
students and former students talking briefly (very briefly!) about things
they wish their professors knew about students in their courses, who have
disabilities. So, if you could tell your professors one thing - just one
thing, in two or three sentences - what would you tell them? In 30 seconds
or less! Here's your chance to do just that and earn a $75 gift card that
can be used at hundreds of retailers.

Who can participate and earn the $75 gift card:

   - Currently enrolled AccessComputing Team members, both undergrad and
   grad students
   - Graduated & employed AccessComputing Team members

How to participate:

   - Record yourself stating and then responding to the prompt: "One thing
I wish my professor (or professors) knew (or had known, if you're
   graduated) about students with disabilities...."
   - You may have a specific course/instructor in mind, or you may have a
general comment that's applicable to several professors.
   - Record on your phone, your laptop or other device.
   - Any software that produces a video file. MP4, MOV, MPEG - whatever.
Variety will add interest to a compilation video.

How to submit your video:

   - Name your recording so we know who it's from and what it is. Example:
   EricT_Professors.MP4. Or KaylaB_Professors.MPEG.
   - So, basically "your name" + "Professors".
   - Email your video to me, Eric (ericwt at uw.edu) or Kayla (kayladb at uw.edu).
We'll take all your recordings, have them professionally edited into one
video and use it as a learning resource for faculty.

Submission Deadline:

   - Monday, January 15, 2024.

Need an example?

   - For an example of what we mean by "just one thing" check out this
video with a different prompt: "Quality Instruction Is/Should Be
   <https://www.washington.edu/doit/videos/index.php?vid=69>"
   - See? Your comment doesn't have to be long - just tell us "One thing I
wish my professor(s) knew about students with disabilities is...."
