FYI:  It appears that the parking lot gate card readers are back to normal
working order.  If anyone continues to experience problems with the
gate/card readers, please let me know ASAP.

Good afternoon,

We are experiencing problems with the Penn Ave parking lot gate card
readers, and FMS is working with an outside vendor to repair the problem.  

For security reasons, the parking lot gate auto-closes at 6pm each evening.
If you are here past 6pm, the gate has already auto-closed and there are
'normally' two ways you can exit - 1) drive your car up the drive and the
sensors recognize your car and the gate opens for you to exit or 2) swipe
your CMU ID in the card reader on the right hand side of the drive and the
gate would open for you to walk out.  However, due to the current problem
with the card readers not reading CMU ID's, there is currently no way to
exit the parking lot past 6pm if you are a walker and do not have a car.  

In the interim, while FMS works through this issue, If you walk to work and
plan to stay past 6pm, please do the following:

1)  Check to see if any staff member with a car is still here, and what time
they plan to leave that evening.  You can leave at the same time, and when
they drive their car up the driveway the gate will open, and you can walk
out as they drive out.

OR

2)  If you are the last person to leave at night and there is no one around
to drive their car up to the gate to open it for you, call Campus Police
8-2323 and ask that they come to open the gate for you in order for you to
walk out.

We hope to have the parking lot gate readers back to normal working order
soon.  I appreciate your patience!
