After double checking-with our development team, please note the following information about Alice and Java:

Netbeans page will work with Java 10:

Alice 3 hasn’t required a Java install for several builds now.  I will go edit the page that indicates otherwise 

We recognized this would be an issue for Netbeans when Oracle changed their terms for Java JRE related to netbeans.  The page we link to for getting the JDK does have a link to the free open JDK.
