Hi everyone, This Monday for the upcoming Accessibility Lunch Seminar, we  
have Prof. Nam Wook Kim from Boston College joining us in-person as a guest

Talk Title: Designing for All: Elevating Accessibility in Data  
Visualization Abstract: Data visualizations have become a widely used tool  
for communicating important information in our society. However, for  
individuals with blindness or low vision (BLV) who predominantly use screen  
readers to navigate the web, the inaccessibility of these visualizations  
can perpetuate information inequity. In this talk, I will start by  
highlighting a notable gap in the field, despite the recent rapid  
advancements in data visualizations. I will explore the current challenges  
and problems present in the practice of data visualization accessibility  
and discuss how we can address them by developing enhanced accessibility  
methods. I will present the findings from our interviews with visualization  
practitioners and provide insights from our content analysis of existing  
visualizations in the wild and the tools used to create them. Moving  
forward, I will introduce our multi-modal approach to visualization  
accessibility, which relies on LLM-powered question and answering as a key  
element, built upon insights from empirical studies involving BLV  
individuals. I will conclude by envisioning a future where accessibility is  
seamlessly integrated into the data visualization experience. Relevant
