Has anyone else listened to "Adoration" by The Ragbirds?
Wikipedia says they're from Ann Arbor! Cynnabarbarians, what do you
know of them?
I don't know whether it was based on a period melody or they just
happened to write a pavane and galliard. But it seems quite
danceable, and to me the lyrics sound flirtatious / earthly worship
appropriate for a pavane. (Well, the galliard lyrics are kind of
creeper / stalker, and it's even creepier that they had a little girl
sing half of them, and it's two full minutes of galliard, o my heart.)
Their expired blog (Google snippet) says "... all my songs, only one
is directly a worship song (Adoration), although our 2009 album
includes an African worship song (Onyame Kokroko)."
